PROVIDENCE + BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY

Providence

I've done a good amount of homework to rest a full day on this Saturday in Providence, where my old high school friend will be waiting to greet me and another friend of mine from MassArt. In the early morning, she and I rode a train with our $ 10-weekend pass, which was cheaper than I expected thinking about its unlimited usage during the weekend. It took slightly over an hour to get there, and as I expected my buddy came up with his fancy trendy clothes on. Right away, he took us to Providence Place, a big mall where I ate a hamburger and onion rings for lunch. While talking about what we're going to do in this place, SJ(high school friend) recommended us to watch the movie, "US" after an hour. I was cool with that. Actually, I really wanted to see the movie after the trailer that was pretty dope and terrifying. However, it turned out to be not so scary at all but some parts really funny. I didn't hate the movie, but my one-word assessment for it is confusing. I was so confused at the end when an unexpected scene was revealed, and I really want to talk about it here but that's a spoiler alert so...
Anyways, then we visited shopping malls, RISD museums, RISD cafeteria, SJ's dorm room, and Brown University. We went to different places a lot, but I personally enjoyed the Pad Thai noodle at the restaurant at dark and board games we've played at the bubble tea house. I've never been so excited and happy to spend a day for such a long time.

Bohemian Rhapsody

Currently, I'm in a dilemma of what to start off with my essay about the movie Bohemian Rhapsody. To get a brief recall about it, I rewatched it today skipping the music melodies. And I was also reading all the reviews from rotten tomatoes and imdb. I was shocked to see such a low percentage on the overall movie review from critics, who were saying that there were so many details that were left out or misleading compared to the band Queen's real life. It is so surprising to see the unexpected comments that each works hard to change my viewpoint of this movie. I'm really glad that I watched it first before reading the critics' opinions. I can say that this is not a documentary but a movie with the purpose of entertainment for the audience who wants to remember Queen and Freddie Mercury as legends. In fact, for me critics were simply being too picky on the nuances of some scenes.

  1. I'm a huge Queen fan and I loved the movie, I totally agree that a lot of critics missed the point of the movie.
