Spring Break

Spring break was so fun. I always like to take advantage of my breaks and do as much as I can in the small amount of time that we have away from school. I was barely home which I initially was really happy about because I felt that I was really getting a lot done and seeing a lot of people but I failed to recognize that my really should have considered my family more.

One of the things I did over break was drive up the University of Wisconsin - Madison, or as most people call it there, “UDub,” and had suuuuch a good time. I had this plan for a little while, and initially my boyfriend was going to drive up with me to visit our friend Hannah. My boyfriend goes to Northwestern, so even though our breaks didn’t overlap, I was still able to see him because he goes to college just north of the city. He didn’t end up coming because it’s the end of the quarter there so he had some important stuff he couldn’t miss. My friend Hannah is in Pi Phi, and Thursday night was one of her date parties. She took me as her date, and the theme was vintage 80s skiers. Had I thought ahead, I would have brought a lot of the bright clothes I have at college home with me and just worn that to the party, but I just didn’t think of it. I ended up wearing black sweatpants that looked a little like they were ski pants, a white t-shirt with different colored flowers on it, a bright orange windbreaker/rain coat, an orange and blue winter hat, and orange ski goggles. The colors ended up working pretty nicely despite not thinking about that at all as I was putting together my outfit.

I got to her campus and immediately started having fun. I saw a bunch of people I knew because so many people from Chicago go to Madison, and then we started to get ready for the party. We got our outfits on, went to Hannah’s friends dorms, and then headed to the house where we met all of the other girls and their dates. I saw this girl from my high school and I used to be really great friends with her, but we had a pretty major falling out during our senior year. I tried to avoid her, but then she came up to me and we talked through our issue maturely which is something that we hadn’t really done. Ultimately, we forgave each other, and then went to the club where the actual party was. It was a lot of fun to go with Hannah and her new friends, and also to spend time with Hayley, which I hadn’t really done since early senior year.

It’s really weird that we only have like 6 weeks until summer. I was really excited about that when I was getting sad about leaving home again, but now that I’m here, I don’t want to leave again! I’m going to miss my friends so much and I know it’ll be such a weird feeling.
