Last Weekend

I had a good weekend! Not relaxing at all, but good! On Friday evening, I had the Best Buddies Gala. The Best Buddies chapter at Northeastern is definitely small, but one of the business fraternities on campus, Alpha Kappa Psi, decided that their philanthropy this year was going to support autism awareness and Autism Speaks. As such, they partnered with Best Buddies at NU. With the funding and planning abilities of AKPsi, and the passionate and positive nature of those in Best Buddies, it made for a great night. There was pizza, dancing, arts and crafts, a giant Best Buddies cake, and more. I think they did a really great job. After the gala, my friends and I attempted to go out, but because we went out so late, we didn’t get in where we planned to, and just went back to our dorm instead.

On Saturday, I had work form 10:45am-4:15pm, and I was scheduled to be at a pregame for my friend’s formal at 4:30. That wasn’t going to happen, because I get ready so insanely slow, and it was also one of many Welcome Days here at Northeastern, so the bookstore was absolutely insane. The line, with 5 or 6 cashiers working at once, was towards the back of the store, even though we were working as fast as we could. Sometimes it’s fun to work when it’s so busy, but this was just slightly too busy. I clocked out, ran home, and began getting ready. The pregame happened to be literally across the street from my dorm building, as Kennedy is at 119 Hemenway and this person’s apartment was at 114 Hemenway, so transportation certainly was not an issue. The formal was for Kappa Delta, which my friend Colby is in, and she invited me to go about a month ago. Ultimately we went together, and had a great time!

Because it was so busy in the bookstore on Saturday, one of the managers thought that they might be a little short-staffed for Sunday, so she asked if I could pick up a few hours on Sunday. I obliged, which I kind of regretted because work was just no fun at all that day, and the whole time I knew how much work I had to do for my International Business class. I basically had to study every country in the world in preparation for our second and final map quiz. My professor split up the world into 6 regions, and he randomly selected 10 countries from each region, and we had to name them. I think I did pretty well, not 100%, because I left like 2 blank that I didn’t know, but I think I did pretty well.

Tonight I’m working a book event in East Village. I’m not exactly sure what the book is about or who the author is, but I know it has something to do with international business and one of the courses I’m in is called International Business. But hey, some extra cash never hurts!
