My name is Leslie and I am also addicted to reality television

So I recently sat down with my house mates to ironically watch the 3 hour long Bachelor season premiere together. We thought it was a ridiculous show and we had never seen it before, so we decided to watch because it is comedy gold to observe people trying to find love on a reality television show. Needless to say, we now sit down at 8 pm every Monday night and religiously follow the Bachelor. This show is addicting! They keep showing us these intense preview clips of people yelling and crying and freaking out and you always think something crazy is going to happen this week but it never does and you just keep getting strung along by these dramatic previews. Anyway, I have officially become addicted, and Bachelor is the only thing I look forward to on Mondays. It is actually quite nice to have a reason to enjoy Mondays. And it doesn't stop on Mondays! I have also recently become addicted to a reality show that plays every Tuesday. It is called "Temptation Island" and the premise is that 4 couples who are all at a crossroads in their relationship all come on this show, and there are about 8 single guys and 8 single women who are waiting for them on this island to try to tempt them and get them to leave their girlfriend/boyfriend. It is really wild to see a bunch of different relationships get absolutely destroyed OR see people realize that they love eachother a lot. I don't know why you have to go on a reality show called "Temptation Island" to realize your significant other is the one for you, but I guess whatever floats these peoples boats! I actually heard about Temptation Island while I was eaves dropping these two girls walking behind me on my way home one night. They were discussing the Bachelor so I had to listen to hear what their thoughts were. Then they started talking about Temptation Island and it seemed so trashy and dramatic so I decided I had to watch. Reality shows kind of create this high when you watch them. Like they build up so much suspense the whole week and you just want to binge watch the whole series but you can't because you have to wait each week. I think the added suspense creates this sort of reward and high when you finally get to watch the episode. I would love to see if there are any studies out there on reality tv shows effects on the brain. I think I would probably go about it by getting people who watch weekly realty tv, and measuring the levels of dopamine in their brains before, during, and after they watch their show each week. I feel like their brains would be super high in dopamine levels when they get to watch the shows.
