Spring Break

Spring break just passed. It was a pretty fun spring break. I went back home to New York.
I went back on Saturday on the bus with some friends. It was a pretty funny ride because my friend
got car sick and he was acting really weird. He threw up in a bag on the bus and during the break,
he walked out without his shoes to throw up at a Burger King. He got back on and threw up some more.
It was pretty funny to be honest. During break, I just spent it by spending time with my highschool friends
and just hanging out. We usually went to go eat out and just catch up with each other. It was pretty fun to
catch up with them and see what’s new in their life. There are many new things about the high school
friends and it was nice to talk about them. There is some new stuff happening in my life and it was fun
to share with them too. Honestly, I had a sense of nostalgia when I hung out with them. It sort of made
me feel like I was still in high school. We went to karaoke one day. That was pretty fun. It was my first
time going to karaoke and I found out that I’m pretty bad at singing. It’s different to sing in the shower
than to sing out loud to people. My nerves got to me and I sang completely out of tune. During spring
break, I also spent a lot of time with family. It was nice to see them and see what’s going on in their lives,
to see if there is anything new happening. I missed them a lot, so it was nice to see them. We went to go
eat out on some days. The food was so good and I missed eating all of it. My brother also bought me a
Lady M cake for my early birthday. Since I wouldn't be home with them during my birthday, we
celebrated early. I was pretty surprised about it; I didn’t think they would celebrate it early. Although I
didn’t like the cake, it was nice of them to do that. I came back to school on Saturday, so break was
literally for a week. I came back extremely tired, even more tired than ever. Yesterday, I went to service
learning at O’Bryant. This time we didn’t work in the writer’s room. We actually went upstairs to a
classroom to help the kids. We watched in on the teacher’s lesson on topic sentences. They were learning
to identify topic sentences and seeing if they are good and connect to the thesis. This was prep for the
students to do for their own essay. I think I like it better in the classroom setting rather than in the writer’s
room because it feels like we are actually tutoring them. But today was a pretty easy day at service
learning, just helping students identify their topic sentences and seeing if they connect to the thesis.
